More About Italy
From shoes and cars to art and opera, in Italy everything is created with two key ingredients: beauty and passion. They are also the ingredients of everyday life in Italy and have been for centuries. Our students can choose Italian language immersion and cuisine in Bologna, Renaissance art history and studio art in Florence, or Italian language and immersion in the southern town of Sorrento. On our summer programs in Italy, students can discover the language, culture, art and cuisine of one of the world’s most beloved nations.
In the Spotlight: Sorrento, ITALY
Residential Immersion: Italian Language & Culture on the Amalfi Coast
Sorrento is a great program for students who are interested in authentic Italian cultural and language immersion, making new friends, and having the summer of a lifetime! Abbey Road invites you to spend 3 weeks in a land of lemon groves, charming villages, and dramatic cliffs with breathtaking views overlooking beautiful azure waters. The southern Mediterranean coastline is the perfect place to spend a fun, educational summer!
In addition to soaking up Italian language and culture, students will have a wide variety of activities to choose from, including soccer, cinema, hiking, concerts, and more! The group will explore nearby seaside towns of the Amalfi Coast, including Positano, Amalfi, the island of Capri, and Pompeii, where 2,000 year old Roman ruins rest at the base of Mt. Vesuvius. During the last week of the program, the group will travel to Rome for three nights where students will experience the Roman Forum, the Colosseum, the Sistine Chapel, the Trevi Fountain, and other wonderful treasures of the Eternal City!
