Traveling can bring about a monotony of site seeing that can often bore even the most intrigued traveler. It’s typical to land in a place and go to a museum or eat at a cafe, but unless you’re a museum or cafe enthusiast, it can be a snooze fest. Many countries have so much more to offer the world, but it just takes a bit of research. But, this is why I am here.
The “Off the Beaten Path” series of articles are bringing you a look into the alternative travel guide with some of the best options of tours, eateries, and activities, worldwide. With the help of these articles, you will learn about some of the coolest things to do while in your host country! The next stop is Berlin, Germany. Berlin is often known for famous sites like the Berlin wall, the Nefertiti bust in the Neues Museum and its overall historic nature. However, Berlin is also home to some of the most creative tours in the world.
One of the best tours to take, in Berlin, is the Street Art Workshop. This tour is done in 2 parts. The first part of the tour takes you into the world of Berlin street artistry. As you walk about the streets, you get a firsthand look into graffiti and mural art crafted by both local and international artists. The tour guides are all artists and experts on the works and the motivations/stories behind them. Feel free to ask questions because they definitely have the answers!
The second part of the tour takes you to an abandoned margarine factory in the district of Lichtenberg. In the factory, you will have the opportunity to work with graffiti and street artists to create your very own piece, with the help of their expertise. Taking what you learn, in the first part of the tour, you can become a street Basquiat. Another awesome part of this tour package is that you can take the art home, with you, as a memento and souvenir. It’s a fantastic way to test out our new skills and show your friends and family, back at home.
Here’s a snapshot of everything that comes with the tour:
Tours are done Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 12pm!
