On Saturday morning we took a bus to San Gimignano to climb the old medieval towers left in the city. It was a beautiful quaint town and the view from the top of the tower was breathtaking. We had time for lunch and before we left we stopped to get gelato at an award-winning gelateria, which was delicious.
Then we traveled a short bit to Siena, where we had free time for shopping and to explore the city. We got to see the famous horse track in the central piazza and visit the Duomo, where we saw the beautiful paintings and frescoes inside.
Sunday morning saw us at the train station, ready to depart to Lucca. When we arrived we had free time for lunch and to explore the town, and afterward, we climbed one of the towers in the city for another spectacular view. Then we rented bikes and rode around on the wall surrounding the old city. It was a great way to get the whole view of Lucca and it was refreshing to get a breeze in the heat.
