For Teachers

There are many ways to promote study abroad at your school or in your classroom, especially for foreign languages, history, studio art, music and all humanities in general.

TELL YOUR STUDENTS

Many students do not even know about study abroad options available to them. A simple presentation by a teacher explaining what study abroad is, the benefits to a student’s academic development and college application, as well as the fun, adventurous, eye-opening experiences possible can inspire students to explore their options.

MAKE IT A CLASS PROJECT

Assign your students the fun homework project of researching study abroad options for high school students. Encourage them to use the internet to explore all the numerous and innovative programs available.

ORGANIZE A STUDY ABROAD FAIR

Many schools organize very popular fairs at their schools, inviting dozens of independent programs to have booths where students and parents can walk around to meet representatives first hand. Some of the best fairs partner with other schools to host larger events, speaker panels and personal counseling sessions.

ORGANIZE AN ABBEY ROAD PRESENTATION

If you would like to have an Abbey Road staff member come to your class or school to talk about language immersion, study abroad and the Abbey Road experience, please contact us to make arrangements.

  • Customized Trips

Abbey Road offers completely personalized trips to anywhere in the United States and Europe! We understand that no two schools or groups are identical as their priorities and budgets will vary. Based on your group’s interests we will shape a tour with all accommodations (flight, hotel and meals) to suit your needs. One of our travel professionals will work side-by-side with you to create a trip that you and your students will love! Unlike other travel companies that will combine your tour with other schools, our tours are completely customized and private. The Abbey Road Staff is flexible and willing to accommodate. If you are interested in organizing a Spring Break or a summer trip for your class visit our Class Trips page and fill out the form. SPECIAL FALL EVENT: EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING TEACHER WORKSHOPS!

Many teachers looking to enhance their students’ classroom language learning experience have expressed an interest in the philosophy behind the Abbey Road Experiential Learning Method (A.R.E.L.M.). In hopes of maximizing the potential of their own personal teaching styles, these teachers would like to understand the essential elements that make the A.R.E.L.M. such a successful approach to foreign language acquisition. Abbey Road offers a series of Teacher Workshops designed to help you adapt the A.R.E.L.M. to your own classroom needs. The first workshop in this series is tailored to High School French teachers.
